Hello new home...
August 25th I will be flying out, suitcases brim to the maximum capacity, to my new home of Boston Massachusetts. I am so excited for this new chapter in my life and the new city to help write it. I haven't quite figured out the logistics of leaving my neices and nephews and everyone that I love so much here, but I am taking a leap and am excited about the ground that is catching my feet on the other side. I think I am just going to have to be a mad tourist for about the first 6 months there because...well, just look at the goods... Once I get settled the leaves will start to change and you visitors will be coming to town, right? I will be continuing the blog there so you can see what I'm up to. I am living with my friend from my mission and two other girls in Charlestown, right outside the center of Boston. Can you see me smashing about as a city girl with my long coat and boots? My mom told me I have to bring pepper spray on my key chain...haha! But I heard charlestown is pretty mellow with tall victorian English-looking homes. You will get pictures later, so stay tuned for the Boston Chronicles.

I MUST COME! I NEED IT!!! Be prepared!!!
That's freakin' tight!!! I love Boston!
You are going to have fun, Case-wish we could visit! We have another week and a half before we have to move back.
hey, my husband's cousins live there and they are so fun! You will never find anyone better at the sign game or the animal game. They are the Porters too, and they are going to school and working there. 2 guys and 2 girlies. I know they would be glad to help you with anything you need, and they are so fun you'll bust a gut. So, I'll let them know you are moving up there :)
yeah, thanks everyone. Yeah, Amanda do you happen to know what ward they are in?
So, you asked me forever ago about Boston things to see and do and . . . I don't know where to start! I seriously think that Boston is probably the funnest city to live in (especially as a single person). The wards there are awesome. I first went to the older graduate student/professionals ward because my boyfriend at the time was in that ward but then after we broke up, I moved to the University Ward (which included people my age). Both are such great wards. Lots of cool people and such brilliant Sunday School lessons. You will learn so much!!!
Living there I'm sure you'll give plenty of tours of the Boston sights so you'll quickly become acquainted with plenty of the historical areas. Of course, since I'm a food junkie, I know a lot of great restaurants. I lived in Harvard Square most of the time and there's a great Indian food place there called "Cafe of India". It's relatively inexpensive too but very good.
Little Italy (in North End) has some awesome restaurants and there are tons of surrounding historical places including Paul Revere sites. There are two pastry shops that people argue about which one is better. Mike's and Modern Pastry. Both have excellent cannolis so you'll just have to try out both and decide which one you like better (oh darn!).
Let's see, Harvard Square is always popping and it's way close to the church. In fact, if you take the "T" to church, you'll have to walk through HS and I'm sure you'll get lots of experience in that area. Plus, Harvard is one of the coolest campuses I've ever been to.
For some reason, that's all I can think of right now. OH my gosh! I almost forgot about the BEST THING EVER! Go to Friday Night Flicks at the Hatch Shell on the Charles River as long as they have them. I'm sure it's a summer activity but they might still be doing it when you move there. Tons of people bring blankets and food and sit out in front of the Hatch Shell (where the Boston Pops play) on Friday nights and watch old flicks like The Wizard of Oz and other family friendly movies. It is a blast but get there early.
If you have more questions, e-mail me. I'll try to think of more recommendations. Either way, you will LOVE it there!! I'm so jealous.
